Hoy tenemos la visita del gran Hans Lilja, coordinador de Un resplandor en la oscuridad, antología que acaba de ver la luz en España de la mano de Dimensiones ocultas. La entrevista original es en inglés, así que la pondré tanto en su idioma nativo como en español.

Today we have the visit of the great Hans Lilja, coordinator of A Glow in the Dark, an anthology that has just seen the light of day in Spain thanks to Hidden Dimensions. The original interview is in English, so I'll put it in both your native language and Spanish.

Hello, Hans! First of all, welcome to Chica Sombra (Shadow Girl). Tell me, how is a normal day in your life?

A normal day of my life I get up and go to work. Very normal and boring :-) but I guess you might think about the work connected to Stephen King? Well, that is something I do on my spare time. I have run the site Lilja’s Library for 26 years and love doing it. Some days there are more to do and others les. I do try to keep up with what’s happening in King’s world and report about it on my site. I do lectures about King across Sweden and talk about King and my books. So, in that regards there are no normal day.

How did the anthology Un resplandor en la oscuridad (Shining in the Dark) come about?

I wanted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the site and decided to create the book. It was just meant to be a limited edition released in the US, but it got so popular that now it’s translated into 16 languages and released in 36 different editions. The Spanish being the most recent one.

Many of the constant readers in Spain are not familiar with Lija's Library.

Could you tell us about the project?

Sorry to hear that. Lilja’s Library is a site that I have run for 26 years and it’s about all things Stephen King. I have as the only fan site interviewed King two times over the phone and I try to report about everything that has to do with King. New about books, movies other stuff that is of interest. It’s the one place you need if you’re looking for King news. I hope all fans in Spain check it out.

How was the compilation of the stories that compose it carried out? What guidelines did you follow?

I wanted to include stories and/or authors that in some way has a connection to King. And off course a story by King himself. I succeeded with that, and it turned into the book that is now available. I’m very happy about its content and I hope the stories will scare you, make you laugh, cry and think. If so, my goal has been reached. 

How did the Spanish edition of the book begin to take shape?

Dimensiones Ocultas contacted me and asked if they could publish the book in Spain and told me what they wanted to do. I thought it sounded like a great idea and after contracts where signed they produced a wonderful book. I really love the finished result and I hope all readers in Spain will feel the same.

You've published it with Dimensiones ocultas, a recent publishing house with new and original ideas. What convinced you to choose it to bring the book to Spain?

I liked their ideas and their drive. I felt they would take good care of the book and not just let it disappear among their other books and so far, I have not been disappointed. They even created a t-shirt. How about that?

Different authors have a place in it, what common link do the different stories have, besides the horror genre?

They are all in some way connected to King. Inspired by him, inspired him, collaborated with him or liked by him and so on.

How many of the authors in the volume have you met in person? Do you have any funny and/or special anecdotes about any of them?

The only one I have actually meet face to face is Stephen King. I have spoken to most of the others though except Edgar Allan Poe who is dead :-) That would be a story to tell if I had meet him.

Can you tell us something about your next projects?

Not yet I’m afraid but soon.

Un día normal de mi vida, me levanto y voy a trabajar. Muy normal y aburrido :-) pero supongo que podrías pensar en el trabajo relacionado con Stephen King. Bueno, eso es algo que hago en mi tiempo libre. He dirigido el sitio Lilja's Library durante 26 años y me encanta hacerlo. Unos días hay más que hacer y otros menos. Trato de mantenerme al tanto de lo que sucede en el mundo de King e informar sobre ello en mi sitio. Doy conferencias sobre King en toda Suecia y hablo sobre King y mis libros. Entonces, en ese sentido, no hay un día normal.

¿Cómo surge la antología Un resplandor en la oscuridad?

Quería celebrar el 20 aniversario del sitio y decidí crear el libro. Estaba destinado a ser una edición limitada lanzada en los EE. UU., pero se hizo tan popular que ahora está traducida a 16 idiomas y lanzada en 36 ediciones diferentes. Siendo la española la más reciente.

¿Podrías hablarnos del proyecto?

Lamento escuchar eso. La biblioteca de Lilja es un sitio que he administrado durante 26 años y trata sobre todo lo relacionado con Stephen King. Tengo como único sitio de fans a King entrevistado dos veces por teléfono y trato de informar sobre todo lo que tiene que ver con King. Novedades sobre libros, películas y otras cosas de interés. Es el único lugar que necesita si está buscando noticias de King. Espero que todos los fans en España lo vean.

¿Cómo se llevó a cabo la recopilación de los relatos que la componen? ¿Qué pautas seguiste?

Quería incluir historias y/o autores que de alguna manera tengan una conexión con King. Y, por supuesto, una historia del propio King. Tuve éxito con eso, y se convirtió en el libro que ahora está disponible. Estoy muy contento con su contenido y espero que las historias los asusten, los hagan reír, llorar y pensar. Si es así, mi objetivo ha sido alcanzado.

¿Cómo empezó a tomar forma la edición en español del libro?

Dimensiones Ocultas se puso en contacto conmigo y me preguntó si podían publicar el libro en España y me dijo lo que querían hacer. Pensé que sonaba como una gran idea y después de firmar contratos, produjeron un libro maravilloso. Realmente me encanta el resultado final y espero que todos los lectores en España sientan lo mismo.

Lo has publicado en Dimensiones ocultas, una editorial reciente con ideas nuevas y originales. ¿Qué le convenció de elegirla para traer el libro a España?

Me gustaron sus ideas y su impulso. Sentí que cuidarían bien el libro y no dejarían que desapareciera entre sus otros libros y, hasta ahora, no me ha decepcionado. Incluso crearon una camiseta. ¿Qué hay sobre eso?

Diferentes autores tienen cabida en él, ¿qué nexo común tienen las diferentes historias, además del género de terror?

Todos ellos están de alguna manera conectados con King. Inspirado por él, colaboró ​​con él o le gustó, etc. 

¿A cuántos de los autores del volumen has conocido en persona? ¿Tienes alguna anécdota divertida y/o especial sobre alguno de ellos?

El único con el que me he encontrado cara a cara es Stephen King. Sin embargo, he hablado con la mayoría de los demás, excepto con Edgar Allan Poe, que está muerto :-) Esa sería una historia para contar si lo hubiera conocido.
